Every day huge quantities of good food are thrown away, while thousands of people go hungry. Food Not Bombs is a global movement which collects donations of food that would otherwise have been thrown away and cooks it into hot vegan meals to give away on the street to anyone who wants or needs it.
For more information about the food not bombs movement see www.foodnotbombs.net
We get together on the third Sunday of the month in South Manchester to cook up tasty food and give it away for free, as well as providing food at community events and for activist groups. We also do a weekly veg drop-off at the St Bride's project for destitute asylum seekers in Hulme. Most of our ingredients are leftovers donated from local veg shops. If you're interested in getting involved, drop us an email at the address below - we're particularly looking for volunteers at the moment who can help once or twice a month with picking up of veg. We collect on Wednesdays between 5 & 6pm.
